'Cutting edge' Calder Quartet to perform at Connecticut College Nov. 13

NEW LONDON, Conn. - OnStage at Connecticut College presents the Calder Quartet on Nov. 13 at 8 p.m. in John C. Evans Hall. Inspired by the renowned American artist Alexander Calder and traditional quartet groups, Calder Quartet has also been influenced by modern artists, such as Bob Dylan. Its approach to mixing genres has gained it the reputation for being "cutting edge." The evening's program will include work by Franz Schubert, Igor Stravinsky and Leoš Janácek.

This year has been eventful for the group's two violinists, violist and cellist. The group has performed on "The Tonight Show" and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," and has also collaborated with various artists, including Terry Riley and Andrew W.K. The Los Angeles Times said of the group, "Calder takes its place as one of America's most satisfying-and most enterprising-quartets."

Tickets are $22 for general admission, $20 for seniors and $11 for students. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit http://onstage.conncoll.edu or call (860) 439-ARTS.
