Men´s lacrosse undefeated through 5 games

The Connecticut College men´s lacrosse team out-scored Farmingdale State 6-1 in the third quarter to pull away with a fifth straight victory Tuesday. With the 16-10 win, the Camels are 5-0. On Saturday, the team beat conference rival Amherst College for the first time since 2001. Junior Eric Doran had three goals in the 10-8 victory over Amherst. Freshman John Lyons added two goals and an assist and sophomore Chuck Czerkawski won 11-of-16 face-offs for the Camels. The win was the team´s second New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) victory. The Camels beat Trinity College 10-4 in the season opener March 13. Freshman Andrew Freedman scored four goals in that game, while Doran and junior Mark Mangano chipped in with two scores each. Following the Trinity win and a March 14 victory over Plymouth State, Connecticut College sophomore goalie Rob Moccia was named New England Small College Athletic Conference Men´s Lacrosse Co-Player of the Week. Moccia posted a .839 save percentage with a 3.33 goals against average in the back-to-back victories. Next, the Camels host No. 5 Middlebury College March 27 at 1 p.m. Other Connecticut College sports teams are also off to a strong start. Women´s lacrosse is 2-1 after a thrilling overtime victory against McDaniel College March 16 and a 12-11 win over Wheaton College March 18. Women´s tennis is on a four match win streak and men´s tennis is 3-3, posting strong wins against Roger Williams University and Babson College. Women´s sailing, meanwhile, is ranked No. 7 in the country after finishing fourth out of 17 teams in the season opening Navy Spring Intersectional and fifth out of 18 teams at the St. Mary´s Intersectional this past weekend.
