Louis B. Susman, the U.S. ambassador to the Court of St. James in London, will be the keynote speaker at Connecticut College's 94th 2013 on May 20, 2012.

"Connecticut College is honored to welcome the ambassador back to our campus for this important occasion," said President Leo I. Higdon Jr. "We look forward to hearing the words of advice and encouragement he will offer to the Class of 2012 and our guests."

Susman was nominated for the honor by a committee of students, faculty and staff. He has a strong connection to Connecticut College through his daughter, Sally Susman '84, executive vice president of Pfizer Inc. An active alumna and supporter of the College, she served on the Board of Trustees from 2002 to 2011.

Susman, who has been active in public service for decades, practiced law for 27 years in St. Louis before becoming an investment banker with Salomon Brothers, where he worked with President Higdon in the early 1980s. He was nominated as the ambassador to the Court of St. James in London by President Barack Obama and confirmed by the U.S. Senate on July 10, 2009.

Connecticut College's 94th Commencement is Sunday, May 20, at 11 a.m. on Tempel Green. The processional begins promptly at 10:35 a.m.
