Princeton Review: Connecticut College is a ‘Best Value College’
The Princeton Review today named Connecticut College one of the nation’s “Best Value” colleges and universities for exemplary academics and commitment to financial aid.
The education services company profiles the College in its book, “The Best Value Colleges: 2013 Edition,” which includes 75 private and 75 public colleges and universities. The designation as a “Best Value” is based on an assessment of more than 30 data points, including academics, cost and financial aid.
“A Connecticut College education is the best preparation for life and career,” President Leo I. Higdon Jr. said. “We provide our students with a highly-personalized education that gives them the skills they need to be successful in today’s complex and uncertain world. And that is a tremendous value.”
In a USA Today article, “Best Value Colleges strive to cut tuition sticker shock,” higher education reporter Mary Beth Marklein writes that students at best value colleges have lower-than-average student loan debt. Many also receive generous financial aid packages.
"College-bound students and their families are understandably scared about paying for college, but a lot of people never make it past the sticker price," Robert Franek, senior vice president of The Princeton Review, told USA Today. "It's such an avoidable mistake."
