Race and Ethnicity Programs at Unity House

We offer a variety of services, including:

Advising

We employ holistic advising that enhances students’ academic, social and personal development. We also provide advising and mentoring for student organizations affiliated with Race and Ethnicity Programs at Unity House.

Support

Support for students of color in the affirmation and celebration of their cultural identities, including collaborating with other departments and student organizations to plan various activities related to cultural heritage months.

Community Building

Community building across differences among students of color and across the campus community by collaborating with other departments and student groups on initiatives that promote awareness of diversity and multicultural issues, such as issues on race/ethnicity, (inter)nationality, class, gender, sexual orientation, and religion.

Heritage Month Programming

Race and Ethnicity Programs' Community Engagement Team provides leadership, vision and direction for our campus wide heritage months programming. Our student leaders organize a thoughtful selection of events that includes lectures, movie screenings, and panel discussions that honors and celebrates the experiences of historically marginalized groups. Genesis Pre-Orientation and Peer Mentoring Program

At the start of the academic year, every first-year student in Race and Ethnicity Programs has the opportunity to participate in our Genesis mentoring program. The Genesis Program is designed to acclimate first-generation and first-year students of color to the campus experience at Connecticut College during Orientation. Learn more about Genesis.

Explore Weekend

Explore Weekend is a collaborative effort between Race and Ethnicity Programs and the Office of Admission. We invite seniors, in the fall, from underrepresented groups and those committed to issues of diversity. Over three days, they will get a sneak peek at a challenging liberal arts environment and learn about campus resources for students of color. Learn more about Explore Weekend.
